Issues

Why do people like to create issues where there are none, yet disregard the very issues that are causing others to crumble?

Some things just plain irritate me, and this is one. Why make a problem out of something innocuous?

Grrrr.......

I guess different issues hit different tender spots in different people - each person has issues others may not, what may be important to one may be unimportant to another, they aren't creating issues, these are their issues - we live in a complicated world with complicated people, all created by Hashem. I am not understanding which irritates you. is it the mounain out of mole hill guy, or is it the ignoring big issues guy.

the truth is, anonymous is right,, our frame of reference is relative,, and everyone has their own issues. this however is just an excuse to avoid accuntability. the torah tells us what is important, and what isnt. arguing people are complcated is like pleading insanity.
dreamer, u have every right to be annoyed by these things. but, are u sure you arent making too big of a deal out of it? sometimes you have to accept that being above average puts u ahead of most people, and u should try not to let their stupidities get to you.

unfortunately, what u describe is what is wrong with so much of the frum world. from trying to keep up with the goldsteins, to shidduchim, etc...
people have their values confused, and fail to see the big picture. i personally choose to avoid those folk to keep mysef from breaking any laws.

anon - some issues ARE created...

MM - was actually referring to a specific incident that just happened, but i see what you mean.
and no, i usually don't air out my irritations to the public.
as stated once before - this is my blog, so all my readers get the brunt of my irritations.
:)

and some things are just unavoidable.

I don't know why and I know exactly what you mean, very annoying.

Well, usually the ones making mountains out of molehills are the ones who in fact are avoiding the real issues.

Another peeve:
Our community has effectively replaced the word "problem" with "issue." At first, it's simply cushioning the real meaning, which is dumb -- if you have a problem, face up to it. By now it has evolved so that it means the same thing anyway, so what's the point?
Personally, I prefer "problem." "Issue" is too vague. If I have a problem, I need to solve it. If I have issues, stay away from me. There's not much you can do because she has "issues."

I could be off the mark, but that's how it sounds to me.

bas-melech,

getting peeved about people calling problems issues is definitely making a mountain out of a molehill. you do the math.

to address your point though, issues is a word which has no implict negativity, problems does. There is definitely a mandate from g-d to speak in a loshon tov. that being said, you are right, the system is numbing themselves from reality and needs to wake up.

swfm - thanks for commiserating.

basmelech - i think saying issue is fine... some things ARE issues...

david - yeah. stay away from me... lol.

jean - huh? i think you're asking me to explain.... but i don't speak french.

MM - lol.

Some things are issues... but in my neck of the woods, "issue" has become at least as negative a word as "problem." Instead of being a word of its own, "issues" has come to mean "i-don't-want-to-say-it-but-there-is-a-problem-ssshhhhhh"

And although I understand you think I'm being overly picky, MM, I am not making a mountain out of this molehill. I am merely drawing your attention to an anthill. Watch it for a few seconds and move on, like I do.
