Good Night!

When people wish you "Good night" what do they mean?

Should you sleep well?
Not wake up sweaty?
Be able to wake up the next moring?
Be able to fall asleep?

I wonder...

Funny I never really thought about that good question. I guess without thinking about it they must mean sleep well. Next time I say good night I will be more aware of what I mean:).

Choice e: All of the above?
Is there a right answer?
I always thought it meant, well, have a good night. I guess I'll have to be more specific next time.

Anyway, I'd better get on to bed now. So, Dreamer and fans, have a splendiferous night and an equally fabulous day to follow.

if you dont know what "good night" means, youve probbaly never had a "bad night" :)
wishing someone a good night is wishing them a peaceful, restful night - demonfree, sheepfree, painfree, tearfree, anxietyfree, nightmarefree..

if i might offer my two cents... it means 'until next time...' good night means BE WELL until the next time we interact with eachother... saying good night, good day, good evening is just cultural ettiquite(however that is seplled) for ending a conversation or interaction.

I am unsure if I was being clear. the words good day, good night, good evening are the proper words to express the feeling of, be well until the next tme we interact, in the context of ending an inteaction. I wasnt saying that it has no meaning and is just an ettiquite expression.

I'd say it can be any or all of the above. It all depends on the person and on the context.
