The children gather 'round the cage
Their eyes are filled with glee
They wait there with their parents
Chattering incessantly
"Mommy, what do monkeys eat?"
He questions without end
But Mommy's much too busy now
She's chatting with a friend
"Daddy, when's the keeper coming?"
She hesitantly asks
But Daddy's on his cellphone
It's a more important task
The children line up one by one
They wait impatiently
They're on line for the Ferris Wheel
As happy as can be
And Daddy raises Little One
Places him upon the seat
His Little Boy's not smiling
Though the moment should be sweet
'Cuz Daddy's on his Bluetooth
And Mom's too scared to ride
And as the ride goes up, up, up
Little Boy looks at his side
And all he sees are Daddies
And Mommies on the phone
The forgot the very reason
They didn't stay at home
This holiday's one of happiness
But it's not so for some
So, dear mommies and daddies
Spend REAL time with your little ones.

It's so true. I try not to be on the phone when I'm out with the kids. It's not fair to them. However, sometimes it is unavoidable. But even then, I try to keep it short.
sweeeeet
and oh so true...
loved this rhyme!
this past chol hamoed, i saw way too many parents who just couldn't get off the phone while out with their kids.
'twas sad.
Whenever I see it, I feel bad for the children and am ever so glad that I grew up in the generation where even having a car phone was a luxury. Who ever knew of cell phones?
So sad. But well-written. ;-)
